I’m growing Abenaki Flint corn, in hopes of getting a few ears to make cornbread with. The birds seemed to really like the seed, so I only had about 60% germination, but this little guy survived the culling:

How neat is that? I love little surprises like this while gardening! I don’t grow a lot of corn myself, so I haven’t seen an albino seedling before, but apparently the mutation happens every once in a while. It’s actually grown a little bit since I saw it last, which is surprising, since it doesn’t have any chlorophyll for photosynthesis. We’ll see how big it grows, but its neighbors may overtake it soon.
